Auctioneer - Resale Does it really work ? Summary

Well so I had recently come back to wow and I wanted to start getting some gold as I had never really had more then I had needed , I had done a lot of trading in previous games but never wow .

So I started to reading the web and came across a post on JMTC doing a review of auctioneer called Auctioneer Review : Easy gold . So I have been using auctioneer since I started playing wow but just using it to post my items I gathered post dungeons or crafting .

So I read the comments and one said : I received a tell in game a few days ago from a player who used my system combined with auctioneer to go from 100 gold to 6000 gold in two weeks. Now that's encouraging :)

Ok so is this going to be possible ? So I decided to try it out and blog about it .

So to start I decided to set some rules .

• I could only use the resale function or manual searches
• I Couldn’t use trade chat

What I had to start with :

A level one Mage

1000g

A guild bank with 3 bank tabs

So day one I went onto the AH and hit the scan button the scan took around 15 minutes and then I was ready . I then went into the search tab and selected the resale option and ran the search . You normally get a large amount of results here and you need to be careful what you buy .

The 3 Rules :

• Start with low value items
• IF your not sure of a item don’t Buy
• Watch for Market manipulations

Staring with Low value items :

When starting out you need to play it safe and look at items that sell well and offer ok profit . Trade good offer the most safety in wow as people will always need them .Other good markets to look at are recipes and also pets . But its important to not risk too much on a single item at a early stage .

If you are not sure don’t Buy

Its amazing what sells on the AH and also at the same time what doesn’t sell if your not sure about a item google search it or look on the TUJ and see what average prices are . Especially when you are starting its important not to have stock that doesn’t move .This is also important if you plan to flip a item .

Watch for Market Manipulations

Have you ever seen that item on the AH for 99999g ? Or items way above there actual value ?

The Reason that this is done is to mess about with the scan data from the addons people use so when you look to see if items are a good deal you see a small percentage of the normal price .Be careful here and if you think a deal is too good stop and check.

So where do you find the best deals for resale ?

The are a couple of tips that have worked for me when looking for items for resale .

• Items with no Bids
• Items that will be ending shortly
• Items that have just been listed

Even though you wont win every auction that you bid on the more you do bid on the more you will win . With items that will be ending shortly just sort the AH by time remanding and have a look at what’s is about to end if you see a good deal then grab it . Its also the same for Items that have just been listed just sort the AH by time remaining and then you can see what has been just listed . I found a great time to get items is about 11pm-1am as this is when people log off to go to bed and will dump all there goods they want to sell on the AH .

So I have to say I was very surprised that it worked as well as it did do , I started out with 1000g and on day seven I had 1300 gold 7000 g of foods on the Auction house 3 guild tabs and my bank full off goods ready for Cata . I only spent 1 hour to 1 and a ½ each day on the Auction House and that is including the scan time .

What has been selling on the Auction house in cataclysm - Christmas Cartel

So Here are my Sales so far this week .

Winter Viel Wow i didn't have enough stock !
Small Eggs I have sold 34 stack of 5 for a total of  674 g
Red Winter Clothes SO far i have sold 33 for a total of 747g
Bolt Of woollen Cloth sold 155 for a total of 622 g
Woollen Cloth sold 31 stacks for 341g
Bolts of Runecloth 23 in stack of 4 for 263g
Gingerbread Cookie 12 stack of 5 for 212g
Green Winter Clothes sold 9 so far for 435g
Ice Cold Milk 19 sold for 18g

So for the first two days of just winter Veil sales i have made  3312g so being prepared has netted some nice profits .

There are two achievements that people need the materials to make items for and Winter Garb is used in Tis the Season and Small Eggs and Ice cold Milk for The Winter View Gourmet

Embersilk Cloth Farming 150+ Cloth an hour

EDIT : This location has been Nerfed but here is the new location The Best Embersilk Farming Locations 

So every now and then some traditional farming is invloved to finish off one of your professions . As i want to level out my Tailor but dont want to pay 10g for one Embersilk cloth i decided to find somewhere to farm . The good news is I have found a spot to farm about 200 Ember silk cloth a hour.

Where ? 
Deepholm at the Shuddering spines where the big arrow points to .

The Mobs to farm are called Jaspertip Swarmer and hunt in packs of 5 and have 10.7k Hp each . I have been farming with my Mage and have been getting between 150-200 cloth a hour and normally a few greens and the odd blue .

Also there are 2 Friendly mobs patrolling called Son Of Kor and ever now and then all the mobs in a area will attack them so watch out for this and then run over tag all the mobs and help the npc kill them .

I have also experimented with using Potion of treasure finding here and the potion lasts for 1 hour and i looted 15 Tiny Treasure Chests receiving 60 Embersilk Cloth , 35 gold and 2 Volatile Life

So back to the farming for me as i still need 350 more Embersilk Cloth  to finish off

I haven't had the best week making gold  but i have been levelling up my main and working on crafting on my alts.

What has been selling on the Auction house in cataclysm - My Sales

I am sure people are asking what has been selling and what can i sell , well here is my list of top sellers from the Addon My sales Sorted by volume

Netherweave Bags at the top then Infinite dust and  Vanishing powder !Various Glyphs and also Darkmoon Rouges Decks . This sales log is on one of my alt who deals in general goods and my glyph seller .

The majority of my sales are vendor recipes and Glyphs at the moment .

So from what I can see people still want items to help with levelling and there crafting so vendor recipes sell well and all the basic glyphs also sell well .

Also I haven't started to post my Stockpile yet but will start too soon .

My Tips -
- Vanishing dust go buy from vendor and put on AH
- Vendor recipes - have a quick trip around the old world and collect some recopies

The Cataylsym Shuffle - The True worth of ores

Back in Wotlk We had the saronite shuffle but with Cataclysm there are new Ores so  are there new ways to make gold with them , but the question is what are they actually worth ?

So what's the new shuffle ?

Below is chrat produced by Z-man from the JMTC forums and has kindly allowed me to use it

So as you can see that both Obsidum and elementioum actually are the same when it comes to the shuffle .But i would suggest going for elementium as its more easially farmed and yeilds rare gems more often .

To Best make use of the shuffle you need a Jewlcrafter , Alacmist and a enchanter .So early on in the expansion there are a couple of main  issues to consider 

 Is the market overinflated ?
What can sell the jewlly for ?

As both ores have a base price of 9g per 5 . When considering to either cut into gems or to make jewllery make sure that your end profit is profit and not a loss .

Also if you have access to a alacmist then the transmute of the lesser gems into rare gems is also of great benefit and can yeild a strong profit . 

At the moment on my server the uncut gems sell for 50g each and the rare for 100g each . So i am buying out any ore under 175g a stack . If I craft the jewllery I can normally sell them for 50-100g for green and 250g up for the blues . So overall i make a profit on this at the moment .

Also dont forget the old Saronite shuffle with people dumping both ore and gems onto the market .
